Ryo Yoshizawa will Play an Original Character in the Movie!

Ryo Yoshizawa won Best Supporting Actor at the Blue Ribbon Awards and the 43rd Japan Academy Film Prize Awards for his appearance in the 2019 movie Kingdom.

He is currently starring in the Japanese historical drama Seiten wo Tsuke on NHK as Eiichi Shibusawa, a role that has garnered a lot of attention.

Yoshizawa has taken roles in live-action movies based on manga such as Kingdom and Gintama.

His roles range from light-hearted to heavy, which has garnered him fans from all demographics.

In 2019, he made his anime voice acting debut in the film Her Blue Sky as the protagonist Shinnosuke Kanamuro in both his younger days and as an adult. His performance received high praise, as the quality of the voice acting was very high for a first-timer.

Yoshizawa is also a fan of MHA, the TV anime based on the manga that runs in Weekly Shonen Jump.

When we went to interview him at the My Hero Academia: DRAWING SMASH exhibition currently taking place in Japan, he said things like “I really cry when I watch MHA,” “Deku is so cool, working hard and slowly getting stronger,” while looking at the panels and other items on display.

A scene that is especially popular among fans is one that takes place in the UA High School gymnasium between Deku and Todoroki.

When he came across that scene on display in the exhibition hall, he exclaimed,

"This scene! I seriously cried during this scene” and couldn’t contain his excitement. He is a true MHA fan!

Yoshizawa's character is Rody Soul, designed by the manga's original creator Kohei Horikoshi-sensei exclusively for the movie.

Rody is an important character who holds the key to the story, so we're sure to have a chance to experience the love Yoshizawa has for MHA!

Comment from Ryo Yoshizawa

I will be taking part in the My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission movie as Rody Soul.

I love MHA. I am quite excited that I have a chance to exist in the world of this series.

I’m glad that I expressed my love for the series on many different occasions. At last, my plan to join the cast has been successful!

I’ll do my best not to break the wonderful world of MHA that is filled with passion and humor, and although I’m not ready in many ways,

I want to make sure that I have the character down pat. Please go easy on me.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission Story Introduction

The Quirk Doomsday Theory states that "quirks," something ingrained in society, will lead humanity to destruction, declaring that those who have them are "sick." Humarize is a mysterious group that seeks to eliminate those who have “quirks” worldwide.

To save people in countries across the world from the forcibly quirk-destroying "Quirk Causation Bomb," pro heroes all over the world and the interns at UA High School have gathered, forming a world-class specially selected hero team. Their task is to retrieve the bombs hidden around the world.

Izuku, Bakugo, and Todoroki are interns at Endeavor Office. They are asked to leave Japan and carry out the mission in Oseon.

While there, Izuku gets involved in an incident and ends up on the wanted list. While this is happening, Humarize’s nefarious criminal statement reaches every corner of the world:

“The two-hour time limit starts now.”

Before the MHA characters face their most dangerous mission, the future of the world and all the heroes are entrusted only to "them."
